Landing and Surface Systems

Kennedy Space Center offers testing capability and expertise to support Lunar Landing Testing/Surface Systems (both large and small).  Many capabilities are required to successfully checkout and test a lunar lander or Surface System.  Remote location, hazard landing test field, commodities (fueling/defueling), flight testing both tethered/freeflight, processing facilities, imagery, plume analysis, and technical expertise are only a few of the many capabilities available at KSC.  We have decades of processing and testing expertise and have processed landers for launch (MRO, Mars Lunar Lander).

Kennedy Space Center’s Swamp Works, also known as the Surface Systems Office (SSO), provides Government and commercial space ventures with the technologies required for working and living on the surfaces of the Moon or other planets and bodies in our solar system.
