Kennedy Space Center (KSC) offers multi-disciplinary design engineering expertise in support of the development of ground systems and equipment for the ground processing of space launch vehicles, spacecraft and payloads, as well as new technologies, with the potential application of these services to a wide range of other commercial and academic endeavors.
This capability covers the entire span of product development, from creation of the original design concept, to building the product, to verifying and validating the function. The design team of mechanical, electrical and fluids engineers and software developers is currently focused on building the infrastructure and ground systems that will launch NASA’s next generation of space vehicles from KSC. The December 2014 test flight of the Orion spacecraft was supported by systems and equipment designed and assembled by the KSC team, and this group is also supporting a variety of other aerospace efforts at KSC and beyond.
