High Tech Economy

High Tech Workforce

With 48 engineers per 1,000 workers, the Space Coast ranks No. 1 in the nation, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.  The TechAmerica Foundation ranked this area No. 5 in the U.S. for the concentration of skilled high-tech workers.  These high-tech workers fuel innovation, with 13 patents for every 10,000 workers – more than double the national average. Such a concentration of highly skilled workers available for hire can only be found in Florida’s Space Coast.

Economic Resources

NASA-KSC closely collaborates with state and local economic development organizations, such as CareerSource Brevard, SelectFlorida, the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, Space Florida and many others to take full advantage of all avenues of support.  KSC also has a focused Space Technology Investment effort to encourage the transfer of NASA technology to commercial markets while expanding opportunities for future space activities.
